Product information
Disana's organic cotton knitted nappy – versatile, inexpensive & very breathable
Part of Disana's three-part nappy system, this organic cotton knitted nappy is the mainstay, absorbing most of the liquid and retaining it in the cotton fibres. It is one of the true birth-to-potty nappies as you fold the back of the nappy down when the baby is smaller. Some people find the nappy tricky to handle, but it really does become easy to use after a few times.
The stretchy fabric ensures a snug fit, from birth, when crawling and then walking. Its versatility and price, make it an economical nappy system.
One of the attractions of this nappy system is its breathability - all parts are either made of organic cotton or organic wool, allowing air to pass through better than other systems.
How to use this nappy
You can find detailed instructions on the Disana website.
Lay the knitted nappy out, folded in half at the ties. Long straight edge under baby's bottom, shorter edge with ties around baby's knees. If too long in length, fold down the back more to reduce length.
You then add either the Disana organic cotton muslin, Disana organic cotton flannel liner or a Bummis organic cotton prefold to absorb the remaining liquid. This keeps the baby dry for a longer period of time. Most people don't start to use these liners/prefolds until the baby is a few months' old.
Use the Disana paper fleece liners to contain the poo and then switch to the Bummis Bio-soft liners once weaning has been established.
This nappy needs a wrap. Most people use the Disana wool wraps - pull-on or aplix - to complete the nappy system. Other wraps which can be used are the Disana microfibre wrap and the Mother-ease Airflow.
Care instructions
Wash at 60 degrees. This nappy does dry quickly but can be tumble dried if required.
