Parents using reusable nappies know they are doing something to help the environment. For one child, avoiding disposable nappies means 4,000 fewer disposable nappies... manufactured and 4,000 fewer soiled disposable nappies taking 500 years to break down. Fluffy cotton nappies feel good to your baby and the planet. The health of the planet affects the quality of life of our children. We want to help reduce the waste going to landfill/incineration in other ways too. In the future we plan to develop ideas on what action we can take locally within our communities – our child’s nursery or school, our workplace, our estate, street or local park to reduce waste, recycle and re-use. If you would like to get involved please let us know. We also want to support other local environmental groups and initiatives so please let us know what you’re up to. We use bicycles and an electric van for all of our deliveries and collections. We also want to encourage people to sell on their used nappies and wraps. WEN run a Second Hand Exchange for nappies and wraps to help buyers and sellers find each other. You can reach them on 020 7481 9004 (ask for the Second Hand Exchange) or send a list of items for sale to nappies@wen.org.uk. Friends
of the Earth encourage people to use washable nappies. The Women's
Environmental Network have championed real nappies for over 12 years:
